Synopsis Kiritani Shuji is the popular guy who gets along with everyone, from the jerks to the nerds to the just plain weird. He's the one that everyone can count on. However, what they don't know is that Shuji knows how predictable his classmates are and he plays off their predictability to his advantage. His day-to-day existence as "Shuji-kun" is just a facade he uses to play in the school popularity game. Truth be told, Shuji is bored.
The one person Shuji cannot stand is
Kusano Akira. To Shuji, Akira is just plain annoying. He laughs, talks and acts funny. Nobody in class takes Akira seriously. Shuji can't stand the sight of Akira and it drives him nuts that Akira does whatever he wants despite Shuji's expressed dislike of him.
Shuji has a daily ritual of touching a certain willow tree for good luck. One day, he is startled to find out that his willow tree was uprooted and in its place, a freaky-looking girl telling him that some people took the tree somewhere else to be spotted. She told him that she was planning to hang herself from that tree. Scared, Shuji runs away.
Things heat up when a new student comes to school. Shuji is shocked to find out that the new student was the freaky girl he saw the day his willow tree disappeared. Her name is
Kotani Nobuko, a girl who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of and bullied in school.
Shuji and Akira come to an accord that in order to make use of their "youth" they will "produce" Nobuko as the next popular girl. One of the conditions, however, is that nobody should find out that they are working together as a team to make this concept possible.
Of course, there can be no protagonist without an antagonist. There is a mysterious girl in school jeopardizing the duo's plan to make Nobuko popular. The mystery continues to unfold.
Unveiled here is the story of true friendship between three unlikely candidates who would not have been friends if not given the special circumstances.

Synopsis Naoko Noda, who works in a trading company, is called “anego” by her younger co-workers. What is “anego”? It means “older sister,” but in this case it is given as a nickname to Naoko because she is like a big sister to her coworkers, who depend on her to give them advice about everything. This drama, based on a popular novel, depicts realistically how Naoko lives her everyday life, including her love life, the problems she faces, and her uneasiness about the future. Naoko, 32, works in the corporate strategy division. She is single, and has been working hard for 10 years, now she often finds herself in the role of training and guiding the younger female workers. Recently she realizes that most of the temporary and contracted workers’ goals are to find an elite male employee within the company to marry. Naoko also hopes that the man of her dreams, a prince on a white horse will one day come into her life, but it seems like her younger co-workers are always the ones who win the hearts of all the elite men. One day, on the way home from work, a handsome man saves Naoko from a drunk man who was bothering her, but she sees the wedding ring on his finger, and feels the emptiness of being single. One day, Naoko goes out to play golf with the general manager and other co-workers, and there she unexpectedly meets her former co-worker, Eriko Sawaki. Eriko seems to have a picture-perfect life; she is married to a company president, and already has one child. Naoko gets distracted by Eriko and the happy atmosphere around her, and ends up with a terrible golf score. After finishing the round, Eriko’s husband comes to pick her up, and Naoko is surprised when she sees his face. Eriko’s husband is the handsome man who saved her from the drunk man. Naoko’s heart starts pounding, and she can’t help but envy Eriko’s happy life. When working women reach their 30s, they start to worry about various things; “How long should I continue working for this company?”, “Will I marry the man I am dating?” “If I continue living like this what will I do when I grow old?” etc. In this drama, the main character, who is a 32-year old single woman working at a prestigious trading company, suddenly finds herself as one of the elders at the office, being a big sister to her younger co-workers. From the outside, it seems like she is a happy and successful businesswoman, but inside she is insecure and worried about her future. This drama, through the main character, portrays the everyday life of working women realistically; what they are really thinking, the problems they face, and how they do their best to survive in this world. --- NTV

PlotMain article: Plotline of Death Note
Light Yagami is a brilliant, but bored, high school student who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground in the year 2003. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note's authenticity, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a Shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the new world" by passing his judgment on criminals.
Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "Killer"), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a race to prove mental superiority between the two begins.
Main characters Light Yagami(Kira) (夜神 月, Yagami Raito?)
The main character of Death Note, Light is a brilliant but bored 17-year old student. When he finds the Death Note, dropped in the human world by Ryuk, he decides to use it to kill all criminals and earns the title Kira. His ultimate goal is to cleanse the world of evil to create a utopia and then reign over this new world as its God. He calls himself Justice.
L (エル, Eru?)
L is the world's three top-rated detectives (through two additional aliases), tasked with tracking down and arresting Kira. As such, he is Light's principal nemesis. His disheveled appearance masks his great powers of deduction and insight. L has many quirks, such as sitting in an odd manner (he squats on the edge of his seat, with his knees up by his chin), snacking on sweets in the middle of meetings, and holding his cellphone and other objects in a peculiar manner. He often takes drastic strategies to confuse and force his opponents, and on several occasions he has willingly disclosed several of his weaknesses to Kira at the risk of his own life in the hopes that he would lure him into a trap.
Misa Amane(弥 海砂, Amane Misa?)
A girl with an immense crush on Kira. She is a popular idol in Japan, and tends to wear clothing in many different styles, depending on what she is doing. She is immature and has a tendency to refer to herself in the third person (calling herself "Misa-Misa") in an attempt to be cute. Misa is completely devoted to Light, and she once said that she loved him "at first sight". Light, however, only views her as an asset to his plans because of her Death Note and her "Shinigami Eyes" (that she obtained at the cost of half of her remaining life span, twice). These "Shinigami Eyes" give Misa the ability to know people's names by looking at their faces, thereby giving Kira an edge in his battle against his enemies. Misa read in the newspapers that the murderer of her family was punished by Kira, explaining her total devotion to him, regardless of whether she thinks of his actions as good or evil.
Mello (メロ, Mero?)
Mello was an orphan who grew up with Near in Watari's shelter for gifted children. Like Near, Mello was one of the candidates to become L's successor. Similar to L's fondness for sweets, he is often seen eating bars of chocolate. Although Mello is quite intelligent, he often lets his emotions get the better of him, unlike Near or L.
Near(ニア, Nia?)
Near was a primary candidate to become L's successor and calls himself N during the course of his investigations. He shares a number of similarities with L. Much like how L plays with things such as sugar cubes and forks, Near is frequently shown playing with toys or his hair. Near also sits in an unusual manner similar to L, but with some slight differences. He offered to join forces with Mello to fight Kira, but Mello turned him down. Near then gained the support of the US government and formed the Secret Provision for Kira (SPK).
Teru Mikami (魅上 照, Mikami Teru?)
Mikami is selected as the fourth Kira by Light, after Light decides that it is too dangerous for the Death Note to be near Misa or himself, since he and Misa are currently under surveillance by Aizawa and Mogi. A prosecuting attorney and adamant supporter of Kira, Mikami shares many of the same ideals, thoughts, and priorities as Kira, and is ecstatic when he discovers that Kira, his God, has chosen him, proving that God is on his side and watching. He is completely devoted and loyal to Kira, believing that divine justice must be brought down upon the people. Little is known about his personal life; he appears to have no hobbies or anything else of the sort. He chants "delete" with each name he writes down in the Death Note due to events in his past when he thought God was "deleting" the evil people in his life. He, like Misa, has made the exchange of half his remaining years for Shinigami Eyes.
Shinigami (The Death Gods) Ryuk (リューク, Ryūku?)
The original Shinigami who dropped the Death Note in the human world, which Light would pick up. Acting out of pure boredom, Ryuk begins the story of Death Note on a whim. It is stated that Ryuk found the second Death Note in the Shinigami world. The most important facet of Ryuk's character is that he is not Light's friend. Ryuk often refuses to aid Light and instead enjoys watching him struggle for his goal. He acts for his own interests and entertainment, and often fails to tell Light key details about the Death Note. However, Ryuk will aid Light if it serves his own goals, such as providing amusement or obtaining apples.
Rem(レム, Remu?)
The female Shinigami who first gives Misa her Death Note and "eyes." Similar to Ryuk, Rem possesses two Death Notes; however, she purposely gives one of them to Misa Amane. Rem inherited her second Death Note from Jealous, another Shinigami who died when he saved Misa's life, and thought it only right to pass it on to Misa. Oddly enough, Rem inherits Jealous' love for Misa as well and is prompt to defend Misa even at the cost of her life. She shows this when she openly shows her lack of trust for Light, stating that she will kill him if Misa dies before her time.
Death NoteA Death Note is a book held by a Shinigami which has the power to kill people if certain conditions are met. All Death Notes follow a long set of specific rules, and the writer revealed a few of these rules with each volume of the manga in Japan.
Rules of the Death NoteMain article: Rules of the Death Note
Written rulesBefore releasing his Death Note into the human world, Ryuk wrote some of the more basic rules on the first page in English, because he believed that English was the most popular language in the world. The rules written by Ryuk are the following:
*The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
*This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
*If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen.
*If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack.
*After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
False rulesIn addition to these original rules, Light persuaded Ryuk to add a set of fake rules to mislead L and company. The reason behind this was to remove all suspicion of him and Misa being Kira and the Second Kira and preventing L from destroying the Death Note.
If the owner of the Death Note does not kill within 13 days of the last entry, he or she will die.
If the Death Note is burnt, destroyed, or otherwise damaged in any way, all those who have touched that Death Note will die.

StoryGakuen Alice or Alice Academy is the story of a 10-year old girl, Mikan Sakura, who is devastated when her best friend, Hotaru Imai, transfers to a special school for "genius" kids in Tokyo. Mikan runs away from home to seek out her dear friend, and finds that the school Hotaru transferred to, Alice Academy, is specifically for children who each have a special power called an "Alice". After a teacher at Alice Academy, Narumi, discovers that Mikan has a unique Alice, she is admitted into the school. The story is primarily about Mikan and her experiences at the academy. In the school Mikan meets a boy named Nastume who she at the very start of the anime hates. But Mikan fought through all her problems and became a brave girl who stood up for herself.
AlicesIn the story there are many types of Alices. The five main types of Alices are:
Latent Ability- Alices that are super powers (flying, mind reader, illusion, etc)
Technical - Alices that are based on technology and research fields (drawings, stuffed animals, invention)
Somatic type- Alices based on the body of humans, animals, and other living things (animal pheromone, voice pheromone, dog ears);
Special Ability Types - Alices that don't exactly fit in the three types of Alices above (nullification, shadow manipulation, doppelganging, time travel); and
Dangerous Ability Types - Alices that may be one of the above but are considered dangerous.
Every Alice is categorized as one of four shapes, that specify how much of it can be used and how often.
Childhood Alice: The Alice slowly disappears as the child with it grows into an adult.
Diffuse: The Alice is always available, but at a relatively low power level.
Intermittent: The Alice can only be used for a short period at any time, but at a
relatively high power level.
Limitless: The Alice can be used as often and as much as desired, but each use impacts against the user's own life and can kill them if overused.
Characters.Mikan Sakura (佐倉蜜柑, Sakura Mikan?) Voiced by: Kana Ueda
Mikan is the protagonist of the story. She is an energetic, good-natured girl, but is very clumsy. She is an orphan who used to live with her grandfather in the country. ( if you had read the manga it will tell you her past) She has been friends with Hotaru since second grade so when Hotaru left to the Alice Academy she became really depressed and decided to leave her grandfather and her home to go after Hotaru. She was then accepted to Alice Academy by Narumi-sensei and could attend Alice Academy with Hotaru and other children with extraordinary powers. Her "Alice", is the power to nullify the Alice of others, which is the reason why the Academy administration keeps an eye on her. She has feelings for Natsume . When Natsume called her by her first name, she blushed and, as shown in the manga and anime, her heart was beating really fast. In the manga they kiss. Hotaru happened to know about it but she still keeps quiet.
Hotaru Imai (今井 蛍, Imai Hotaru?) Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya
Hotaru Imai is Mikan's best friend. She is extremely intelligent and rational. During the story, though she may appear to be rather cold and indifferent on the surface, it is apparent that she genuinely cares for Mikan. Her Alice is that of Invention, and during her time at the country with Mikan and her grandfather, she created many strange but useful inventions, often made to look like animals. She knows that Natsume and Ruka have a crush on Mikan. She also knows who Mikan likes. Hotaru breaks the fourth wall by teaching the audience about her inventions. The other characters see her explaining her inventions to apparently no one.
Natsume Hyuuga(日向 棗, Hyūga Natsume?) Voiced by: Romi Paku
Natsume is a genius and ditches class frequently throughout the story. He is thoroughly unhappy with the school, and is suspicious of the intentions of adults. He is paired up as Mikan's "partner" by their mostly-absent class teacher, Narumi. He possesses the Alice of Fire, and is classified into the Dangerous ability type. He is generally moody and silent, but seems to have softened to Mikan and listens only to her problems. During the anime, there are hints that his family perished in a fire that burned down the village, which may have been due to Natsume's fire Alice. He has a lot of girl fans but it is hinted that he has feelings for Mikan, since Mikan, according to Ruka, was the first ever girl that Natsume called by her name. In the manga, he kisses Mikan.
Ruka Nogi (乃木流架, Nogi Ruka?) Voiced by: Miwa Yasuda
Ruka is Natsume's childhood friend and often referred by Mikan throughout the story as "Ruka-pyon". He is a gentle and generous person, characteristics that balance out Natsume's personality. His animal pheromone Alice allows him to get cozy with animals, a fact that he is embarrassed and often blackmailed over. Despite this, he often carries a rabbit with him. He knows Natsume (his best friend) has a crush on Mikan, and he also has a crush on her, which makes him and Natsume rivals.
Narumi (鳴海, Narumi?) Voiced by: Akira Ishida
Narumi is the homeroom teacher of Mikan's class (class B). He teaches Japanese and often deals with Natsume when he gets in trouble or tries to break out. He has the human pheromone Alice; he can make older people do what he wants by attracting them, but children pass out. Mikan calls Narumi "father" because she misses her grandfather so much. Narumi is too young to be called "grandfather" so he asked Mikan to call him "father." Later in the manga, it is found that he harbored unrequited feelings for Mikan's mother. It is proven that he is not Mikan's father, but he made a promise to Mikan's mother that he will take care of Mikan during her stay in the Academy. He is of course, concerned about Mikan and Natsume.
Yuu TobitaYuu is the class representative, known as "Iinchō" by the majority of the class. He has the Alice of Illusion, and frequently helps Mikan out by getting information about the school.
He's in the Latent Type Class, with three stars.
Tsubasa AndouTsubasa is a middle school student who is one of the first students to be kind to Mikan. He has the Alice of manipulating shadows. Belongs to the Special Abilities Class with Mikan. They met when he saves her from bullies. After he saved Mikan from the bullies she really admired him and after awhile she develops an innocent crush on him.
He annoys Natsume because he is very close to Mikan. In the past, he caused trouble for the school, so he was marked with a "Seal/Mark of Obedience" in the shape of a star on his left cheek. The only one who can remove it is the person who put it and he has to follow that person or else... He now behaves. This is why he may be one of the only students who really understands Natsume's rebellion against the academy and his wish of freedom.
Misaki HaradaMisaki is a friend of Tsubasa and likes to pick on him a lot. She also belongs to the Special Abilities class and is one of the most normal looking people there. She has a Doppelganger Alice that allows her to multipy herself into two or more. She is very up-beat. She danced the last dance with Tsubasa during the festival, which, according to the Alice tradition, is a 'dance of love', and any couple that dances during this will be together forever. She and Tsubasa have even been described as a 'married couple' in the anime.

Plot
Ouran High School Host Club is a story that takes place primarily at Ouran High School. The school is an exclusive institution reserved only for students from incredibly wealthy and affluent families. One exception is scholarship student Haruhi Fujioka, a young student from a lower-middle class family. Because of the superlative cost of the school uniform, Haruhi resorts to wearing long slacks, polo shirts and a vest that resembles the male student's uniform. Therefore, upon entering school, Haruhi was assumed to be, by most, a male student.
One day, searching through the vast campus for a quiet place to study since the libraries are filled with gossiping students, Haruhi finds the technically unused Third Music Room, taken over by the Host Club - a group of six attractive male students who spend their time charming and entertaining the school's girls for profit. During their first meeting, Haruhi is shocked at their behavior which causes an accidental knock over of a very expensive vase valued at ¥8,000,000 (USD $80,000 in the English manga). This causes Haruhi to contract a massive debt with the Host Club. In order to pay off the large sum, Haruhi is employed as the club's "dog" and is constantly ordered to do menial tasks for the members, such as serving food or cleaning up.
Once the club president, Tamaki Suou, sees Haruhi without glasses, Haruhi is promoted to be one of the hosts of the club as a way to pay off the huge debt. One by one, the other club members take notice, until even the club president finally discovers that Haruhi is, in fact, a female, with a self-proclaimed 'low threshold for gender identity', but since she is already accepted by the club's customers and has become one of the main attractions, Haruhi is allowed to remain as a member. She is forced to stay until she has accumulated a total of 100 (later, 1000) customers, at which time her debt would be considered paid in full.
CHARACTERS:
HARUHI FUJIOKA.
Haruhi is the main character of the story, a lower-middle class first-year student who is able to attend Ouran High School through a scholarship provided by the school for her grades. She looks like a boy due to her short hair and cute face, apparantly she had longer hair but had to cut some of it due to a kid placing gum in her hair. Shortly after arriving at Ouran (looking like a boy), Haruhi accidentally breaks a vase worth ¥8,000,000 ($80,000 in the manga's North American English version) while in the Host Club clubroom and since then has been forced to work for them to pay for it. Mistaking her for a male, the club initially has her working as their slave, but they make her a club host once they discover that, beneath her glasses and rumpled clothing, she actually has a good looking face. Her natural charm and relaxed demeanour makes her a favourite with the club's customers.
TAMAKI SUOU.
Tamaki is a half-Japanese, half-French Ouran High School second-year student and the president of the Host Club, the founding of which was his idea. He is sometimes referred to as the "King" of the Host Club and is by far the most popular host, with a 70% request rate. The usual instigator of all of the Host Club's antics, Tamaki is prone to dramatics and often acts without thinking or overreacts to trivial things; the other members of the club, particularly Hikaru and Kaoru, often take amusement at his expense. At the same time, they almost always follow his lead, and staunchly support him when it's needed. He is the heart and soul of the Host Club -- he is the one responsible for its creation and formation, and without him, it would fall apart.
Despite his foolish and arrogant behaviour, Tamaki is kind and generous, and is easily moved by the distress of others, even strangers. Once aware of others peoples' problems, he will do all he can to help them and "ascertain justice". He often makes elaborate plans or "strategies" to help them, and will drag the rest of the Host Club into his altruistic schemes despite their protests or indifference. He is curious and genuinely smitten by the habits and lifestyles of "commoners", or people not as well-off as he and his classmates at Ouran, and goes about experiencing them with enthusiasm (sometimes for Haruhi's benefit, and sometimes for his own).
KYOYA OOTORI.
Kyoya is a second-year student at Ouran High School, and vice-president of the host club. The "cool type" of the club, he is extremely intelligent and quite calculating, capable of manipulating events to serve any number of purposes. His family is primarily involved in hospital management and the medical industry with various other business interests as well, and supplies the school's medical staff and security (via its 100-member private police force). As the third son, Kyoya is unlikely to inherit leadership of the family's business unless he can surpass his older brothers' achievements to his father's satisfaction. This puts a lot of pressure on Kyoya, but he claims that he cannot think of a more interesting challenge. His family and the Suou family are rivals, so Kyoya initially befriended Tamaki because his father ordered him to for business reasons. However, as time passed, their friendship became genuine. Also, in the manga, he's shown to be sympathetic to his elder sister, Fuyumi, who was married; when their father saw her back in the house, he commented that married women shouldn't return home so readily.
Although Tamaki is the official leader of the club, Kyoya can easily influence Tamaki when he wants, and in a conflict between two of the other members of the club, they follow Kyoya's lead, causing Haruhi to refer to him privately as the "Shadow King." He was the only Host Club member to realize immediately that Haruhi was a girl, but kept the knowledge to himself in order to see what would happen; he often goes along with the Host Club's more eccentric antics, or even encourages them further, on the grounds that the results could be "interesting." Kyoya keeps track of various information about the students at Ouran Academy and is even in contact with Haruhi's father, who turns out to be the source from which Kyoya obtained Haruhi's photographs and information about her middle school popularity. He does not hesitate to turn a profit from the Host Club's popularity, even to the point of auctioning off items like Haruhi's pencil, and he keeps Haruhi in debt to the Host Club by finding various ways to add to it.
HIKARU AND KAORU HITACHIIN.
Hikaru and his younger identical twin, Kaoru, are first-year students in the same class as Haruhi. The twins tend to imply an incestuous relationship, making a show of it for the benefit of the "boys love" fans among the Host Club's customers. Unlike Tamaki, their interaction with the club's customers is entirely an excuse to satisfy themselves; the "little devil" types of the club, they enjoy making a game of manipulating others for their own amusement, and are easily bored by most things. Both have a habit on calling Tamaki "my lord" (dono in Japanese) instead of Tamaki's preferred nickname, "king." When Tamaki first asked them to join the Host Club, they referred to Tamaki's speech as that of "an idiot lord."
The two of them are extremely close and dependent upon one another, seeing the world primarily in terms of "us" and "those apart from us," thus having little concern for anyone else. Prior to joining the Host Club, they had very little interaction with other people. After Haruhi joins the Host Club, Hikaru and Kaoru's world really begins to expand. Haruhi proves to naturally distinguish between the two of them and sees them as two individuals rather than interchangeable; she can easily tell them apart with her natural intuition. This is something new for Hikaru and Kaoru, as previously nobody was able to tell them apart, and they develop a fondness for Haruhi since she recognizes them as individuals. Since they also enjoy poking fun at Tamaki, they often rub their relationship with Haruhi in Tamaki's face and flirt with her just to make him jealouS.
MITSUKUNI HANINOZUKA.
Mitsukuni is the Host Club's "Loli-shōta" host and always goes by the nickname "Honey"; In the Japanese versions his nickname is romanized as "Honey" (ハニー Hanī). Despite the fact that he looks like a child and always carries a stuffed toy bunny named "Bun-Bun" ("Usa-chan" in Japanese) with him, Honey is a senior in Ouran High School and one of the club's oldest, and most "experienced" member. His customers love his adorable and charming behaviour. Indeed, he often calls everyone by affectionate nicknames like "Haru-chan" for Haruhi and "Tama-chan" for Tamaki. The only exception is Takashi Morinozuka, who Honey calls by his first name of "Takashi", and vice-versa. As cute and defenseless as Honey looks, he comes from a prestigious, martial arts family who trains most of Japan and other nations' elite guards. He is, however, not without weakness.
TAKASHI MORINOZUKA.
Mori is also a third-year student of the school and is the tallest, most silent member of the club. Despite the fact that he rarely speaks or smiles, his tall, tanned, and handsome figure earns him many customers. According to Kyoya, "his taciturnity is his selling point," and many of his admirers are the more introverted and serious girls at Ouran. He is labelled the "wild type" host. Because Mori acts largely on his instincts, this label fits him rather well. Additionally, Mori is the Japanese national champion in kendo.
