Hanazakari no Kimitachi E - The Drama!In the winter of 2006, "Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu", a live action drama version of Hana-Kimi, began airing in Taiwan. It stars famous Taiwan singer/actress Ella as Lu Rui Xi (Mizuki), Wu Zun as Zuo Yi Quan (Sano), Jiro Wang as Xiu Yi (Nakatsu). I am not sure how many episodes will be because it is still running as I write this, however it looks like they will cover a good part of the story, judging from the characters listed in the cast list below.
The drama does a fairly good job at following the manga storyline. A few events are condensed, but for the most part they cover the essentials. They even do a good job at matching the floorplan of Sano and Mizuki's room! I think Ella looks okay as Mizuki, but her acting is a bit too exaggerated for me. She spends most of her time making these stupid goofy faces. I think I would like her more if she played the part a little more seriously. Jiro is AWESOME as Nakatsu though, and Wu Zun is hot as Sano *_*

OverviewHanakimi is a shoujo manga series by mangaka Hisaya Nakajo. The story revolves around Ashiya Mizuki, a Japanese girl living in America who, after seeing an amazing record-setting jump by teenage high jumping star Izumi Sano, finds herself deeply inspired. Mizuki begins to collect everything she can that is connected to Sano, and soon finds Sano becoming all she can think about. However, living in America, Mizuki would never be able to meet her idol... Breaching the impossible, Mizuki somehow convinces her parents to let her move to the boarding school Sano goes to in Japan. The only catch is that it's an all-boys school....
Hanakimi is a loveable, hilarious, and at times outrageous story. Mizuki faces a variety of troublesome and awkward situations dressed as a boy, as well as trying to deal with her growing feelings for Sano. A miriad of supporting characters help bring the story along, including the school's sour and not-so-subtly flambouyant gay doctor; the best friend who finds himself falling for Mizuki and tearing himself up over it, knowing her only as a male; the school's most beautiful student, who soon pins Mizuki as a rival for being the school's top bishounen...to speak of a few. There are so many funny, dramatic and heartwarming moments that contribute to the wonderfulness that is Hanakimi, it's certainly a series that latches on and doesn't let go, even after the final pages of the manga have been turned.

Ashiya Mizuki One of Ashiya Mizuki's most notable attributes is her compulsiveness: it's what brought her all the way from her home in America to be by Sano's side in Japan. Mizuki can't stand by when someone is facing injustice, which has lead to some pretty tense situations - and a gain in enemies. After standing up against top model Alex's slave-like treatment of his makeup artist Ebi, it takes Mizuki a lot of time, going through trials and tribulations to get on his good side once more.
Mizuki is a strange mix of kindness and abrasiveness. If someone pisses her off, she stands her ground. She even gets physical if the need arises, such as when Nihonbashi outright disses her home of America, Mizuki unleashes her fist. On the flip side of the coin, Mizuki can be incredibly kind and seems to only think the best of people until proven otherwise. This naivety has led to some dangerous situations for Mizuki, including her near rape by Nanba Io's hired help during her stay at Io's inn.
Mizuki is often deeply inspired by others' strengths. Sano's ability with high jumping was so inspiring to Mizuki that she moved to Japan to become his friend. Other characters have inspired her as well.
Sano Izumi Initially rude and distant, Mizuki's charm woos Sano away from his standoffish nature. Little by little, Sano reveals more of himself to not only Mizuki, but his newfound classmate friends.
Sano is complex, at times outgoing and confidant, and at other times unwilling to deal with situations.
Nakatsu Shuichi Outspoken and frequently outrageous, Nakatsu Shuichi is a vibrant force in the Hanakimi cast. Nakatsu quickly becomes one of Mizuki's closest friends. Eventually he finds himself falling in love with "him", and after a long period of denial and attempting to change himself by being with [another] woman, Nakatsu professes his feelings to Mizuki. Although she rejects him, Nakatsu remains Mizuki's close friend and constant protector. Later, Nakatsu is greatly relieved to find Mizuki was actually a girl.
Umeda Hokuto Umeda seems the least likely type of person to be a high school doctor: rude, impatient and oftentimes glowering, Umeda is one more prone to strike fear in the hearts of his students than win them over with his nearly nonexistant kindness. Underneath the foul exterior, Umeda's just a big teddy bear, which Mizuki quickly finds out. He's one of the few and one of the first to know her secret, and not only keeps it safe, but helps her out and advises her throughout her adventure at Osaka Gakuen. Umeda is also gay and, much to Mizuki's horror, doesn't try to hide it.
